A lifelong Oklahoma State Cowboy and proud mixed animal veterinarian, Ty Smallwood brings deep agricultural roots and forward-thinking leadership to his role as Managing Partner at TMJ Capital. Raised in Oklahoma and immersed in beef cattle production and livestock exhibition from a young age, Ty developed a passion for animal care, rural communities, and the values that shape both.

After earning his veterinary degree from Oklahoma State, where he also met his wife and TMJ co-founder, Morgan, Ty began his career as a mixed animal veterinarian with a special interest in beef cattle. Over time, he grew into a leadership role that allowed him to pair his clinical expertise with business vision.

At TMJ Capital, Ty focuses on business development and strategic growth, identifying new opportunities to expand the company’s reach while staying grounded in the mission of serving veterinary professionals and their communities. He is in charge of doctor recruitment, playing a hands-on role in finding, supporting, and onboarding veterinary talent across all clinic locations. Ty also leads TMJ’s mentorship efforts for young veterinarians, offering guidance and support to the next generation of practitioners. His approach balances practical clinical wisdom with real-world experience, creating an environment where doctors can thrive personally and professionally.

Outside of his work, Ty is a devoted husband to Morgan and a father. The family is actively involved in Life Church and participates in a small group focused on connection and faith. Whether in the field, in a clinic, or around the table shaping TMJ’s future, Ty leads with humility, vision, and a commitment to building something that lasts.

Born and raised in Oklahoma City, Jake brings a relentless drive and deep-rooted purpose to his role as Managing Partner at TMJ Capital. A graduate of Bishop McGuinness and an alum of Oklahoma State University, Jake began his professional journey in banking before transitioning into commercial real estate and construction, leading large-scale electrical projects and lighting designs for major names, including Google and Tulsa’s iconic Gathering Place.

Jake’s entrepreneurial path began with a few rental properties in Stillwater. What started as a side hustle quickly grew into a full-fledged real estate business focused on flipping and investing in residential properties. In time, his business acumen and vision led to co-founding TMJ Capital.

Beyond business, Jake is passionate about mentorship and making a lasting impact in his community. Jake is a basketball coach at Bishop McGuinness and speaks openly about addiction and recovery. For Jake, success isn’t just about growth, it’s about doing meaningful work, giving back, and never forgetting where you came from.

Originally from Bellville, Texas, Morgan Smallwood serves as Managing Partner at TMJ Capital, where she oversees day-to-day operations and leads the management of the company’s growing network of veterinary clinics. With a background in veterinary medicine and a strong operational mindset, Morgan ensures that each clinic under TMJ runs smoothly, efficiently, and with a continued focus on excellent patient care.

After completing both her undergraduate and veterinary degrees at Oklahoma State University, Morgan chose to put her clinical knowledge to work in a broader capacity. She builds systems, leads staff, and scales veterinary practices while maintaining the integrity of care that brought her into the profession. Today, she leads TMJ’s clinic operations across multiple markets, managing veterinary teams, guiding regional leadership, and building a culture of excellence rooted in collaboration and trust.

Outside of work, Morgan and her husband Ty, also a partner at TMJ, are raising three wonderful children: Leo, Shepherd, and Sinclair. When they’re not working, the family enjoys kayaking and spending time outdoors. Morgan also plays competitive polo on a tournament team, bringing the same competitive drive and teamwork to the field that she brings to her leadership at TMJ.

Dedicated, focused, and mission-driven, Morgan plays a critical role in TMJ Capital’s success, ensuring every clinic operates with heart, excellence, and a long-term vision.

Originally from Burkburnett, Texas, Ella Birk is Junior Vice President of Acquisitions and Operations at TMJ Capital, where she helps lead investment strategy and manage day-to-day operations across the firm’s growing portfolio. With a background in Marketing and Communications Management, Ella brings a people-first mindset to her work: pairing big-picture thinking with the kind of operational follow-through that keeps things moving.

After graduating summa cum laude from Oklahoma State University, she relocated to Oklahoma City and jumped headfirst into building systems, supporting founders, and helping scale TMJ’s impact across industries. She works closely with partners and internal teams to make sure the right ideas turn into the right outcomes.

Outside of work, Ella’s happiest when she’s with her son AKA golden doodle Fitz, watching Thunder basketball, watching her younger siblings play sports, and spending time with her family and friends.
